Friday, a temporary restraining order (TRO) was granted in Sangamon County Circuit Court temporarily suspending enforcement of the state mask mandate affecting certain school districts and individuals. Due to a separate ruling limiting the scope of the litigation, the TRO applies only to the parties of the lawsuit. Lawrence Unit 20 Superintendent Doug Daugherty issued a statement on the Unit 20 website explaining that Unit 20 was not involved in the lawsuit and the district will continue with its mitigation measures and protocols with no changes. Masks will continue to be required for everyone while indoors at school and while on school transportation.
