After a long and courageous fight, Danny E. Willis lost his battle with cancer late Thursday evening, February 3, 2022. He was born in Wyandotte, MI July 24, 1953.

Danny graduated from Bridgeport Township High School in 1971. He then went to work for CSX Railroad. After his crew was laid off, he attended Olney Central College majoring in the welding program. One year later, he transferred to Hobart School of Welding in Troy, OH.

Danny worked for Marathon Pipeline, Buchta Trucking, MAECO, Entac EPA Engineering in California and Santac EPA at the Lawrenceville Refinery site. He was a skilled welder and could operate all heavy equipment. Danny was a certified scuba diver. He worked offshore in both Alaska and the Gulf welding and x-raying welds on the underwater pipelines. He was often called to Texas, California, and Wood River, IL to troubleshoot problems on lines and rigs.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Gene and Vi (Burge) Willis.

Danny married Patricia A. (Biggs) Limes on July 17, 2017 and she survives. He is also survived by: his sister- Kathy Akers and husband Bryan: five stepchildren- Kevin Biggs and Lori, Jayson Crump, Joanne Wells and Brant, Tyler Limes, and Stacy Williams and Ronnie: his grandchildren- Justin Biggs and Brooklyne, Ben Crump, and Delilah Wells: nieces- Aimee Whittaker and Dino, and Amber Gerkin and Mark: nephew- Adam Thacker and Stacey: grand nieces and nephews- Kale Whittaker and Kelsey, Kenedee Whittaker and Lance Phillips, Avery Gerkin, Kade Whittaker, Arianna Gerkin, Jayden, Jocelyn, and Jules Thacker: and one great-nephew- Ledger Phillips.

Danny was a member of the Bridgeport Moose, the American Legion, and the Elks. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, golfing, and having a good time with friends. Danny was a country music fan. Luke Bryan, Garth Brooks, and Alabama were among his favorite artists. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.

A visitation will be held at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A Moose Lodge ceremony will begin at 12:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow immediately. Burial will take place in Bridgeport City Cemetery.
