WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT

The National Weather Service has a Winter Storm Warning in effect for the remainder of Wednesday through midnight Thursday for the entire WAKO listening area. There will be a mixed bag of precipitation starting as all rain before gradually turning into sleet and ice later today into tonight before turning to all snow late tonight into Thursday. Sleet accumulation for the area anticipated to be around 1/2 inch with up to 1/10th inch of ice expected. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches expected depending on your location. Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzger has already issued a disaster declaration for the entire state mobilizing the state emergency operations center along with the National Guard to help with clearing snow and ice and helping stranded motorists.
