The scheduled Tuesday arraignment of Ray Tate Jr of Hopkinsville Kentucky has been postponed. The former Lawrence County man was supposed to appear in Wayne County Circuit Court in Fairfield, but the proceeding was rescheduled for Thursday February 3rd due to an in-person scheduling conflict. Tate was arrested and charged in late December with First Degree Murder in the shooting death of Wayne County Sheriffs Deputy Sean Riley. A Wayne County grand jury convened and late last week returned 38 Illinois felony indictments against Tate including First Degree Murder. Tate is currently incarcerated in the Jefferson County Illinois Detention Center in Mt Vernon.
