The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 37,048 new cases of coronavirus with 142 new deaths across the state Thursday. There were 44 positive cases reported by the Lawrence County Health Department Thursday and 70 new cases reported in Knox County Indiana. Since the pandemic began, there have been 2,560,001 cases of the disease across the state with 28,946 deaths in Illinois. A total of 19,838,302 vaccinations have been administered at sites across the state since the vaccine rollout began with over 3.4 million boosters shots given. The IDPH says that 37.44% of the total Lawrence County population is now fully vaccinated with 41.5% having gotten at least 1 dose of the vaccine. There have been 2,094 booster shots in the county. The Illinois Secretary of States Drivers License offices including the Lawrenceville location will remain closed to in-person transactions now until Monday January 24th due to  rising COVID-19 cases. Vincennes University has announced that due to rising COVID-19 cases, there will be pause in in-person instruction on the main Vincennes campus only starting Tuesday January 18th.
