Friday January 14th is the last day as Lawrence County Sheriff for Russell Adams. He officially retires after multiple terms in office and over 30 years in law enforcement in Lawrence County. Adams had announced late in 2021 that he would not seek another term and then later the Lawrence County Board accepted his letter of retirement in December. Chief Deputy Trent Masterson will take over as acting Sheriff on January 15th until the upcoming sheriff’s election in November.
