Officials have now released the identity of the victim in a southwestern Indiana mining accident late last week. The Knox County Coroners office confirmed the death of 35 year old Brian Rodriguez of Oaktown. Rodriguez was a North Knox graduate who died in the incident which occurred late Friday night at the Sunrise Coal Mine at Oaktown. He was a Marine veteran who was associated with the mining industry for 9 years. The cause of the fatal mishap remains under investigation. An autopsy was performed Monday with the exact cause of death not yet determined. Rodriguez was married and is survived by a wife and 7 children.
