The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 9,848 cases of coronavirus across the state Monday with 17 new deaths. Overall since the pandemic began, there have now been 2,077,260 cases of the disease and 27,588 deaths statewide. A total of 16,985,816 vaccinations have now been administered at sites across Illinois since the vaccine rollout began with over 2.9 million booster doses. The latest IDPH numbers indicate that 37.26% of the total Lawrence County population is now fully vaccinated with 41% of the population with at least 1 dose of the vaccine. There have been 1,858 booster doses given in Lawrence County. Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzger announced Monday new efforts to expand vaccination and testing clinics around the state and President Joe Biden also said the federal government is going to assist states in ramping up those efforts.
