A southwestern Indiana shooting suspect has died. The Indiana State Police have reported the death of 70 year old Paul Wiltshire of New Harmony Monday morning at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. He was taken there after being in custody at the Warrick County Jail for the alledged shooting of Posey County Deputy Bryan Hicks in mid-September of 2021. On Friday December 17th, Wiltshire became ill at the jail and his worsening condition required him to be transferred to the hospital where he later died. The Warrick County Coroner has ruled the preliminary cause of death as natural causes due to COVID-19. The death is under state police investigation with an autopsy scheduled.
