ILLINOIS UNEMPLOYMENT

The Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) reports that the state unemployment rate fell .03 percentage point to 5.7% in November. That is based on preliminary data provided by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and released by the IDES. The Illinois unemployment rate was 1.5 percentage points higher than the national jobless rate of 4.2%. It is down 0.4% from the month of October and down 2.4% from the 2020 level of 8.1%. The November unemployment rates for individual counties across southeastern Illinois including Lawrence are not yet available from the IDES.
