Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzger announced Tuesday that the federal government has approved his request for an emergency disaster declaration making federal assistance available in response to Friday night’s severe storms. Some area counties-Coles, Effingham and Fayette-were included in the 13 county FEMA declaration. Lawrence County was not included in the federal declaration. The county was included among the 28 county state disaster declaration. However, as the storm assessments continue by the National Weather Service and local jurisdictions, additional counties may be identified for federal assistance.
