Thelma L. Piper, age 84, of Bridgeport, Illinois passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at her residence. She was born on March 19, 1937 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the daughter of Raymond T. and Esther (Moran) Hayes. She married Daniel Piper on April 06, 1958, and he survives.
Thelma worked at the Sumner Nursing Home, German Tax Service in Sumner, Bolk Industrial Supply in Vincennes, and as the secretary at Petty School. She owned Piper Grocery Store in Decker, Indiana. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Kenny Hayes and Lyman Hayes; two sisters, Delores Cummins and Evelyn Ledbetter; and one granddaughter, Wendy Price.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel; two daughters, Christie Schuyler and husband, Douglas of Sumner, Illinois and Dawn Crackel and husband, Craig of Bridgeport, Illinois; four brothers, Jack Hayes and wife, Pat of Olney, Illinois, Bob Hayes and wife, Dee of Bridgeport, Illinois, Jim Hayes and wife, Sarah of Flora, Illinois, and Mike Hayes and wife, Sheila of Sumner, Illinois; two sisters, Ellen Mortenson and husband, Chuck of Midwest, Wyoming and Kathy Slichenmyer of Olney, Illinois; one sister-in-law, Penny Hayes of Sumner, Illinois; and two grandchildren, Samantha Crackel and Lyndi Crackel both of Bridgeport, Illinois.
Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 01, 2021 at 1:00 PM CST at the Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM CST at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Salvation Army.
