The Thanksgiving holiday period is traditionally one of the busiest travel periods of the year. Illinois and Indiana State Police along with local and area law enforcement agencies will be out in force and remind motorists to travel safely and buckle up. They will be concentrating efforts on impaired, aggressive and distracted drivers. The Illinois State Fire Marshalls office is also urging safety when cooking for the Thanksgiving holiday. Four times as many home fires occur around Thanksgiving involving cooking equipment than at any other time of the year. Never leave food cooking unattended and keep flammable materials away from the stove.
