The Vincennes City Council took another step toward providing additional water service to the city and community Monday night. They passed the ordinance authorizing the issuance of revenue bonds for the purpose of paying the costs of a planned $8.7 million municipal waterworks project which includes a new water tower on the city’s east side. No rate increase will be used to fund the project. It is anticipated that the bonds will be sold by the end of this year. Project engineering is underway and it is hoped that the project will be put out for bid in the first quarter of 2022. After bids are awarded, it will be anywhere from 12 to 18 months for completion. Also during the session, the council discussed increasing fees for some services rendered such as building inspection permits, golf cart registrations, food truck licensing among others. More study and review will be done on the subject in the next month with a report anticipated to the council in December.
