flu-virus

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,286 new cases of coronavirus across the state Thursday with 27 new deaths. The Lawrence County Health Department report of new cases Thursday was not available. The most recent information showed 93 active cases in the county with only 1 hospitalization. Knox County Indiana reported 71 new cases Thursday. Overall, since the pandemic began, there have been a total of 1,663,364 cases of the disease across the state with 25,377 deaths. A total of 14,964,603 vaccinations have now been administered in Illinois since the vaccine rollout began. Wednesday, over 37,300 people received vaccine shots at sites across the state. Still no word from Springfield on when the Illinois indoor mask mandate will be lifted. Generally, the COVID-19 situation is better now than a few weeks ago with less positivity and new cases slowly declining. But Governor J.B. Pritzger remained cautious when asked about the mandate this week, saying that there are many factors that will be used to determine when the mandate will end and that recent surges in neighboring states leave him still cautious.
