The Bi-State Authority which governs the Mid-American Air Center located northeast of Lawrenceville met Tuesday evening and were updated on the over $2.3 million runway overlay project. They signed their concurrence on a contract with local firm Ambraw Asphalt for the project upon recommendation of the Illinois Division of Aeronautics and approved the engineering fees. There was good news as manager Kurt Schwartz told members that 15th District Congresswoman Mary Miller’s office informed him that the runway overlay project has qualified for additional Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) funding. Under the FY 21 supplementary AIP discretionary grant, most if not all the local project share of $125,000 could be paid by the FAA saving the airport money. The Authority also approved a three year training agreement with the Illinois National Guard.
