Authorities in Gibson County Indiana have identified a woman found dead Wednesday between Lyles Station and Princeton. She is 72 year old Viola Clardy. Her body was found by police underneath a tarp in woods near her residence with several stab wounds and wrapped in blood soaked clothing. An autopsy done Thursday ruled the death as a homicide. After investigation, Clardy’s son 47 year old David Crowe confessed to killing the woman on Monday October 4th and the knives used to commit the crime were also recovered. Crowe had been living with his mother after being evicted from his apartment in Evansville. He was preliminarily charged with murder and was being held without bond. He is due back in court on Wednesday October 27th.
