Charles Weger

Charles Weger, age 96, of Flat Rock, Illinois passed away on Monday, October 04, 2021 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He was born on August 31, 1925 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of Arthur and Bernice (Shank) Weger. He married Erma Yoho on June 07, 1943, and she preceded him in death on July 28, 1998.

Chuck was a 1942 graduate of Lawrenceville Township High School, and attended the University of Illinois. He was a lifelong farmer, as well as a Pioneer Seed Dealer. He raised Registered Polled Hereford Cattle for many years. His memberships included: past president of Illinois Health Improvement Association and served on the board of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, Lawrence County Farm Bureau, and Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation District. He was awarded Conservationist of the Year for Lawrence County and the State of Illinois in 2003. He finished second in the IHSA State Track Meet for high hurdles during his senior year, and was inducted into the LTHS Sports Hall of Fame in 2011. He was instrumental in the creation of Lawrenceville Community Unit 20 Academic Foundation Baker Scholarship. He will be remembered as having a passion in life for helping people.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife; two brothers, Ivan Weger and Clyde Weger; and one son, Earl Thomas Weger.

Survivors include three children, Sue Luthe and husband, Jim of Lawrenceville, Illinois, David Weger of Lawrenceville, Illinois, and Alan Weger and wife, Deb of Flat Rock, Illinois; three grandchildren, Allison Luthe of Indianapolis, Indiana, Amanda Campbell of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Thomas Weger of Flat Rock, Illinois; and two great-grandchildren, Trajan Campbell and Parker Campbell.

Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, October 09, 2021 at 10:30 AM CDT at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Samaritans Purse/Operation Christmas Child or the Lawrence County Cancer Resource Center & Wig Shoppe. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
