CHASE FUGITIVE SENTENCED TO PRISON

sentence-5

A Marion County Illinois man captured here in Lawrence County after a multi-county chase with authorities earlier this summer has been sentenced to prison. The Wabash County States Attorneys Office reports that 27 year old Ashton Harper of Salem was given a term of 5 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections with 1 year of mandatory supervised release for Aggravated Fleeing, a Class 4 Illinois Felony. The charge stemmed from an incident involving a stolen vehicle and aggravated battery with a firearm in White County by Harper. The stolen vehicle he was in was spotted later in Mt Carmel and was pursued by city and county police into rural northern Wabash County before Harper abandoned the car and fled on foot. He was later apprehended after a manhunt in southern Lawrence County near the Wabash County line.
