The Illinois State Police now say that 2 suspects have been taken into custody in connection to the death of an elderly Clay County man late last month. A tip from the public led authorities to the duo on Thursday September 30th and probable cause was found by a Clay County judge to detain them on Friday October 1st. The case has been turned over to the Clay County States Attorney for review and formal charges are expected to be filed in the near future. 80 year old Roger Courson was found dead in his home near the town of Edgewood on Sunday September 26th by a family member. Initial evidence at the scene led police to suspect a home invasion that may have led to Courson’s death. The investigation remains ongoing with no other information being released.
