The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,692 new cases of coronavirus Wednesday across the state with 34 new deaths. The Lawrence County Health Department reports there were 16 positive cases in the county Wednesday with 5 of those attributed to an area outbreak. There are 133 active cases and 4 local hospitalizations. There were 18 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday in Knox County Indiana. Overall since the pandemic began, there have been 1,624,164 cases of the disease in Illinois with 24,934 deaths. A total of 14,527,925 vaccinations have occured in Illinois since the vaccine rollout began with over 25,900 people receiving shots Tuesday. The IDPH is following the most recent Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations advising pregnant women in the state to be vaccinated.
