The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that this is Child Passenger Safety Week with certified child safety seat technicians offering free car seat checks at sites throughout the state. The week culminates with National Seat Check Saturday on September 25th. The week is the opportunity for parents to make sure their child or children are safe in the correct car seat or booster seat. Illinois state law requires children to ride in a child safety seat until age 8 and rear-facing until age 2. In Illinois, an estimated 4 out of 5 car seats are installed incorrectly.
