The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 3,002 confirmed cases of coronavirus across the state Tuesday with 22 new deaths. The Lawrence County Health Department reported 15 positive cases Tuesday with 121 active and 1 hospitalization. Currently, the IDPH is reporting a total of 1,601,759 cases of the disease with 24,661 deaths since the pandemic began. 14,354,101 vaccines have been administered now at sites across Illinois since the vaccine rollout began. The IDPH say that 54% of the total Illinois population has now been fully vaccinated. The LCHD says that about 33.5% of the total Lawrence County population is now fully vaccinated. The IDPH says that now is the time to get seasonal flu shots. Flu vaccine and COVID-19 vaccine can be given at the same time so if someone has not received either, they can do so safely. Everyone six months of age and older is recommended to get the seasonal flu vaccine.
