Authorities in Effingham County are continuing to investigate the discovery of a dead body in the Little Wabash River this past weekend. The discovery of a male subject was made Saturday by kayakers in the river southwest of the city of Effingham. The body was found along the river bank under some trees and debris. The Effingham County dive team was called in to extricate the body and take it to St Anthony Memorial Hospital. The body was that of a white male wearing gray boxer shorts and no shirt with some tatoos on his forearms and left elbow and bicep. No positive identification has yet been made as the body had been in the water for an extended period of time. An autopsy to determine the exact cause of death was scheduled for Tuesday.
