With another farm harvest season upon us, the Illinois Department of Agriculture is reminding all Lawrence County and area farm workers to stay safe. This is National Farm Safety and Health Week with a theme of “Farm Safety Yields Real Results.” U.S. labor statistics show that  the agriculture industry is still the most dangerous in America. Each year the farming profession sees about 573 fatalities-about 23 deaths per 100,000 workers. Most farmworker injuries and deaths are caused by tractor overturns according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. (OHSA).  These incidents result in about 130 deaths each year nationwide.
