The Bridgeport City Council met Tuesday night at City Hall and heard from citizens in the area of Corporation and Chestnut Streets about traffic and safety concerns from fast-moving vehicles in that area and asked for some action to alleviate the problem. The matter was referred to the Street and Alley Committee for further study and review. The council did approve an amendment to the ordinance covering garbage collection for the city by Atkins Sanitation. The amendment dealt with customer billing. 2 bids were received for cleaning the city water tower. After discussion, the council approved the low bid of the firm K.L.N. to do the work. Also discussed was the possibility of Verizon placing a cellular tower atop the city water tower in the future and paying the city for its use, but no firm decisions have been made.
