The Illinois House has taken a step toward slowing climate change across the state with approval of a compromise clean energy bill in Springfield Thursday. Some of the components include the cutting of emissions by coal fired power plants, incentives for the production and purchase of electric vehicles, investments in wind and solar energy and money to keep nuclear plants in northern Illinois open. The measure now returns to the Illinois Senate for approval starting next week. There is now a fourth candidate vying for the 2022 Republican gubenatorial  nomination. Petersburg Illinois resident Jesse Sullivan, who founded the venture capital firm Alter Global, announced this week he will be a candidate and invest $11 million of his money into the campaign. He joins upstate businessman Gary Rabine, former State Senator Paul Schimpf, and current 55th District State Senator Darren Bailey in seeking the party nomination.
