Sandra Lou Polk, age 81 of Lawrenceville, passed away Friday, September 3, 2021 in Vincennes, IN at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born December 21, 1939 in Lawrenceville to Floyd McKim and wife Mable (Winters) McKim Simms.
On May 20, 1961, Sandy married Jerry Polk at the Shiloh Baptist Church. Jerry and Sandy built a blessed and beautiful life together throughout the 60 years of their marriage.
Sandy was a devoted homemaker to her family and worked in a secretarial capacity for many employers. She had worked for Suttle Apparatus, Lawrence County Courthouse, and numerous doctor offices.
She enjoyed knitting, ceramics, collecting porcelain dolls, and spending time with her family. She had been a member of the Transformation Church of God in Clay City which she enjoyed as well.
Surviving family includes: her husband of 60 years- Jerry Polk of Lawrenceville: three children- Jacque Hindman and husband David of Chesterfield, VA, Scott Polk and wife Summer of Lawrenceville, and Marc Polk and wife Elaine of Cheyenne, WY: one sister- Sue Kavanaugh of Indianapolis, IN: one sister-in-law- Barbara McKim of Lawrenceville: seventeen grandchildren: fifteen great-grandchildren with two more on the way: and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, John McKim, and one sister, Virginia Lee McKim Vincent.
A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time at noon. Cremation is to follow with private burial at a later date.
