Walter Tillman Potts, age 94 of Robinson, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Crawford Memorial Hospital. He was born December 12, 1926 in St. Francisville to Tim and Lela (Gillaspie) Potts.

Walter married Agnes C. Schroyer, and she preceded him in death in December of 2002.

After graduating from St. Francisville High School in 1945, he entered the United States Army Air Corp. He served in Okinawa during World War II. Once he earned his degree from University of Illinois in Mechanical Engineering, Walter worked at Marathon Oil Company from 1955 until his retirement in 1993. Walter served his community as a Chairman of the New Hebron Water District for many years.

Walter enjoyed fixing things especially cars. Many times his “fixing” was out of necessity instead of hobby, but he was always proud of his work. Walter took such good care of his cars that he was able to put more than half a million miles on his cars.

All in all…not bad for a left handed, one-eyed baby from St. Francisville.

His daughter, Mary Potts of Terre Haute, IN, survives as well as his extended family.

He was preceded in death by: his parents- Tim and Lela Potts: his wife- Agnes Potts: and one son- Walter Mark Potts.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. CST at Oaklawn Cemetery in St. Francisville on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. Military rites will be given at the cemetery. Cunningham Funeral Home of Bridgeport will be handling arrangements.
