The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that Illinois Route 1 will be closed to vehicle traffic next week 8 miles northeast of Grayville and 7 miles southwest of Mt Carmel in Wabash County. The closure will take place on Monday August 30th and Tuesday August 31st. It is necessary in order to replace a box culvert southwest of Keensburg. Traffic will be detoured through Grayville, Albion and Mt Carmel. The project is expected to be completed by September 1st. No traffic other than local will be permitted on Route 1 in the repair area.
