The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 4,451 new cases of coronavirus across the state Wednesday with 40 new deaths as the numbers continue to rise. The Lawrence County Health Department reported 32 positive cases Wednesday. Knox County Indiana reported 126 new cases Wednesday with close to 500 active cases. Overall since the pandemic began, there have been 1,499,022 cases of the disease with 23,816 deaths. A total of 13,861,875 vaccinations have occured in Illinois since the vaccine rollout began with over 28,600 people getting shots Tuesday. Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville has announced that in order to help protect patients, employees, staff, and the general public–there will be no visitors allowed to the hospital. The policy revision was made due to the rising number of positive COVID-19 cases in Lawrence County and the surrounding area and will be in effect until further notice.
