The list of Illinois school districts now on probation from the Illinois State Board of Education has increased to over 50 and Red Hill Unit #10 is again among them. The district received a letter from the ISBE this week informing them that they are not complying with the governor’s mask mandate and have been placed on notice. It is the second time that the district has been on probationary status. Earlier this year, the district received a similar letter after adopting a policy recommending mask usage but not requiring it for students and staff. But it was later rescinded after new CDC guidelines regarding masking were issued in early summer. The Unit 10 Board last week met and made no changes to the policy. Unit 10 is expected to be contacted in the future about submitting a corrective plan to both the R.O.E. #12 superintendent and the state school superintendent.
