The National Weather Service has officially issued a Heat Advisory through Thursday for the entire WAKO listening area. Peak afternoon heat indices between 105 and 110 degrees are forecast during those days. This can cause heat illness with prolonged exposure and heat illness can overtake a person quickly. Take steps to limit your time outside during the heat of the day. Dress in loose fitting and light colored clothing and drink plenty of fluids, especially water. Make sure to check on those who are especially vulnerable to the heat-young children, the elderly, those with chronic medical conditions and those without access to air conditioning. Also make sure to watch out for pets and ensure they have shade and water during the intense heat.
