Cases of coronavirus continue to spike across Illinois. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health the rise is mostly due to the delta variant spreading through unvaccinated adults and children. There are currently 1,482,369 cases of the disease statewide with 23,717 deaths. The Lawrence County Health Department reported 10 positive cases Saturday with 68 active and 4 hospitalizations. The spread is even more rampant in Knox County Indiana where 153 new cases were reported Sunday. Over 13.7 million vaccines have been administered in Illinois as of late last week. The Center for Disease Control reports that more than 77% of the states adults have received at least 1 dose of the vaccine and 60% of Illinois adults are now fully vaccinated. 32% of the Lawrence County population has now been fully vaccinated.
