The number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise across the country and in the state of Illinois. The Illinois Department of Public Health reports there have been 1, 457,687 total cases with 23, 594 deaths since the pandemic began. The latest Lawrence County Health Department figures as of Friday indicated 8 new positive cases confirmed with 66 active. There have been 2,556 total cases of the disease with 46 deaths in Lawrence County. 28 new cases were reported Sunday in Knox County Indiana. Neighboring Crawford County reporting 213 active cases and 5 hospitalizations. The IDPH says that as of now, 76% of Illinois adults have received at least 1 dose of the vaccine and 59% of Illinois adults are fully vaccinated.
