The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory from 12 p.m. CDT Wednesday until 7 p.m. Wednesday for the entire WAKO listening area. Hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to cause heat index values up to 110 degrees during the period. These conditions are also expected Wednesday and Thursday. Anyone who will be outside for an extended period of time  over the next few days should use caution to avoid heat illness. Drink plenty of fluids especially water, stay out of direct sunlight for lengthy periods of time, wear loose fitting and light colored clothing, reschedule strenuous activities, check on elderly relatives and neighbors, make sure children and pets are not left in cars unattended and know the signs of heat illness and stroke. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location and emergency medical personnel summoned.
