The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 3,048 new cases of coronavirus along with 14 additional deaths across the state Thursday as the number continues to escalate to one of the highest totals since May in the pandemic. The Lawrence County Health department reported 15 positive cases Thursday with 48 active and 4 hospitalizations down from 5. There were 22 new positive cases Thursday in Knox County Indiana. Overall since the pandemic began, there have now been 1,433,313 cases of the disease with 23,490 total deaths in Illinois. Over 23.3 million vaccines have been administered across the state since the vaccine rollout began with over 25,000 people receiving shots Wednesday. The Lawrence Public Library has announced that in accordance with CDC guidelines regarding the wearing of face masks indoors in public facilities, it is now requiring all patrons whether vaccinated or not to wear a mask while inside the library and all library staff and employees will be masked.
