More discourse from a local legislator on the signing of the Firearm Owner Identification Card (FOID) reform bill earlier this week by Illinois governor J.B. Pritzger. 109th District Republican State Representative Adam Niemerg was one of 40 lawmakers in the Illinois House who voted against the legislation. His district includes part of Lawrence County. In a statement released Tuesday, the freshman legislator said that the bill will not stop criminals from getting guns in Illinois, but it will further burden legal gun owners across the state from excercising their Second Amendment Rights under the U.S. Constitution. Neimerg went on to say that it is hoped that the bill will be declared unconstitutional through the courts.
