The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,682 new cases of coronavirus and 8 new deaths across the state Tuesday. The Tuesday total is one of the highest in the recent spike in Illinois cases. The Lawrence County Health Department reporting 8 positive cases Tuesday with 39 active and still only 2 hospitalizations. Neighboring Crawford County reported 27 cases Tuesday while Knox County Indiana has 12 new cases. The IDPH reports over 13.3 million total vaccinations have been administered in the state as of Monday. Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzger and IDPH officials are urging all Illinoisians to wear a mask or face covering indoors whether vaccinated or not. 6.1 million Illinoisians 12 years of age or older are now fully vaccinated-56.7% of the eligible population and nearly 7.9 million residents have received at least one dose of vaccine-72.9% of the eligible population. The Lawrence County vaccination rate is at around 32% of the total population. Illinois has seen a recent uptick in the last week in vaccinations.
