The Vincennes City Council is moving forward toward the annexation of Hillcrest and Bruceville Road. They held a public hearing on the matter Monday evening at City Hall with no opposition. More formal action on the annexation will come next month. Mayor Joe Yochum says the annexation will be beneficial not only to the residents of that area but also allow for new housing to be constructed there in the future to help with the housing shortage. The council also approved on first reading an ordinance authorizing the issuance and sale of $2.6 million in bonds by the city with the funds to be used for capital improvements and equipment for the city police and fire departments. Final approval is expected in August.
