Javier Baez came off the bench to pinch-hit in the bottom of the 9th inning Monday night and cracked a game winning RBI single off reliever Amir Garrett to lift the Chicago Cubs to a 6-5 win over the Cincinnati Reds in game 1 of their four game series at Wrigley Field. Anthony Rizzo blasted a two run homer to help the Cub offense. The win tightens up the race for 2nd place in the NL Central with the Reds at 51-49 and the Cubs at 50-51. Game two is again under the lights Tuesday with Vladimir Gutierrez (4-3) pitching for Cincinnati and Adbert Alzolay (4-10) for the Cubs.
