The state’s top public health doctor says parts of Illinois are now in a pandemic of the unvaccinated. 25 counties across the state are now on a warning level list for rising numbers of COVID-19 cases. Lawrence County is not among them. Illinois Department of Public Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike says that those most at risk of the virus right now are people who have not gotten vaccinated. More than 73% of Illinois adults have received at least 1 dose and over 58% are now fully vaccinated. The latest Centers for Disease Control (CDC) figures show 31% of the total Lawrence County population has now been vaccinated. The Lawrence County Health Department continues to offer walk-in vaccination clinics Fridays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the main office located on US 50 west of Lawrenceville.  Ages 12 and over are eligible with no appointment needed.
