Reports out of Wabash County indicate that 34 year old Ruben Corzine of Mt Carmel has entered an open plea of guilty to First Degree Murder in connection with the stabbing death of a 41 year old Mt Carmel woman. He did so during a Wabash County Court appearance Thursday morning. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Friday September 10th and faces from 20 up to 60 years in prison. On January 29th of 2020, Corzine stabbed 41 year old Michelle Phelps multiple times at their Cherry Street residence in Mt Carmel. He later confessed to the crime during a subsequent interview with Mt Carmel Police.
