The National Weather Service says heat and humidity will occur across the area for the next couple of days. Temperatures are expected in the upper 80s to low 90s with heat index readings climbing into the upper 90s to near 100. Those outside during the period are advised to use caution and be aware of the dangers of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Stay out of the direct sunlight, wear light colored loose fitting clothing, drink plenty of fluids especially water, take frequent rest breaks and try to avoid overexertion.
