The Illinois Commerce Commission has approved the Fiscal Year 2021-25 Rail Crossing Safety Improvement Program for highway-rail safety capital projects. More than $315 million from the Crossing Grade Protection Fund will fund improvements at more than 1400 crossing locations statewide. One of those projects for 2021 is in Lawrence County. CSX Railroad is scheduled for a project on County Road 750 East near Bridgeport. The work would involve installation of railway gates, new automatic flashing lights and reconstructed roadway approaches at a cost of around $600,000. The project dates were not given.
