The Illinois Secretary of State has announced this week that expiration dates for drivers licenses and ID cards in Lawrence and surrounding counties have been extended an additional 5 months-from August 1st of this year to January 1st of 2022. The new extension also includes expiration dates that will occur between now (July) and December of this year. As a result, expired drivers licenses and ID cards will remain valid until that January 1st 2022 date. However, the extension does not apply to Commercial Drivers Licenses (CDL).
