Law enforcement authorities in both Illinois and Indiana are gearing up for the upcoming Fourth of July holiday with a focus on preventing drunk driving. People traveling can expect to see more police on the roads as state and local police in Lawrence and Knox Counties along with the surrounding area participate in the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign. The emphasis will be prevention of drunk and drug impaired driving, distracted driving and speeding. In 2020 there were 14 deaths in Illinois during the Fourth of July holiday period with two of those involving drunk drivers.
