The Knox County Indiana Council this week approved a 10 year tax abatement plan with Origis Energy in regard to the building of it’s planned new solar power plant near Wheatland. The company will pay the county over $2.5 million over a 6 year period as part of the agreement terms. Origis officials say that they plan to invest approximately $106 million in creating the 150 megawatt solar power generation facility. Construction is anticipated to begin in mid-2022 and be completed in a 12 to 18 month period with 300 jobs. The site is the first planned plant for Origis in Knox County. A second 150 megawatt plant would be located in the Bruceville area.
