55th District Republican State Senator Darren Bailey has responded to the action by the Illinois State Board of Education last week to place the Red Hill Unit #10 School Districton on probation for creating a health hazard by revising its mask policy to optional. Bailey issued a press release in which he strongly criticized ISBE for pushing an agenda that would take control of local matters away from local elected officials and also called for ending mask mandates for Illinois school children. He added he has written a letter to the organization demanding an explanation of their authority to take such action and will continue to stand up for the rights of children and their parents. Unit #10 was placed on probationary status and is scheduled for a hearing early next month with State School Superintendent Carmen Ayala.
