Red Hill Unit 10 is now on probation issued this week by the Illinois State Board of Education. Superintendent Jakie Walker reported to the Board of Education Thursday night that they had received a letter dated Wednesday June 23st from State Superintendent Carmen Ayala that indicated that the district has been placed on probation for deficiencies that  have caused a health hazard endangering students and staff after the recent rescinding of it’s mandatory masking policy. Walker says Unit 10 will have a Zoom conference with the state on Thursday July 8th at 11 a.m. to discuss the state’s action and continued recognition of the district by ISBE. The state is also stipulating that 60 days after the video conference, the district will need to present a corrective plan of action to both the ISBE and ROE #12. Also during it’s session, the Unit 10 Board approved continuing athletic co-op agreement for wrestling, cross country and golf with Lawrence Unit 20. They also approved an over $15,000 estimate from Kiefer Brothers for a classroom wall removal at Sumner Attendence Center and an over $4900 estimate from Alliance for heating and air conditioning work at Bridgeport Grade School.
